Fiji is preparing to name its envoy to New Zealand.

The Fijilive website reports the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Cama Tuiloma, will take up the post of acting High Commissioner in Wellington.

The Prime Minister's Office is yet to confirm its appointee.

However, New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters has welcomed the appointment "given the importance of maintaining diplomatic engagement" with Fiji.

Australia has also invited Fiji to appoint an Acting High Commissioner in Canberra. ABC
